Neighbors For Smart Growth™ seeks to foster vibrant communities by advocating for socially and environmentally responsible planning and projects. In so doing, we support projects that promote social cohesion, improve public health, and protect the beauty of our natural environment. This includes promoting local lifestyles with reduced environmental impacts, advocating for social equity, and working to enhance our overall sense of community.

In particular, we have long fought for a strong social and cultural center in connection with the Sunset Transit Station to the west of downtown Portland. We believe that proper planning of this area could produce a vibrant, pedestrian friendly, mixed-use community that greatly enhances the region’s livability.
