Excellent Habitat Restoration Progress – Thank you Partners and Neighbors

Neighbors and Friends,

A huge thank you to everyone that came out to help on last Sunday’s (May 7, ’17) N. Johnson Creek Metro Grant habitat restoration project.  We had at least 31 participants!

It turned out to be another beautiful, fun and rewarding day in Westhaven with neighbors, Neighbors For Smart Growth, Beaverton School District Green Teams (WestTV, Bethany) and the Beaverton ECO-School Networks and our amazing partners at Tualatin River Watershed Council.  Lori Waldo, a candidate for the Tualatin Hills Parks and Recreation District Board of Directors also joined us.  Thank you also to Walker Garbage Services for donating the large yard debris bin and Clean Water Services for the use of the Watershed Wagon and their equipment

We made tremendous progress removing invasive english ivy, blackberry (including roots) as well as some invasive holly. A significant additional area has been cleared of these invasive plants, allowing the native sword ferns and other brush/trees to thrive. Great fun was had by all.

Our next monthly habit restoration event will likely be on June 4th. Please watch here or Facebook for details and plan to join us!
